How to Get the Most Out of Your Outsourced Cleaning Crew

Cleaning your home or office can be an exhausting and time-consuming task. Fortunately, companies such as Graceful Cleaning and Remodel are available to take the reins and do the hard work for you.

However, while cleaning professionals are trained to produce fabulous results, they’re not miracle workers. Your crew will have an allocated amount of time to spend in your home or office before they’ll need to move to their next appointment. If your property is piled high with obstacles, they’ll struggle to clean as thoroughly as possible.

So, how can you make the most of your outsourced cleaning crew? Here are some simple tips to try today:

1. Make yourself scarce

Some clients love to chat with their cleaning crew throughout appointments. While this is a friendly gesture, it can be distracting and may negatively impact the quality of that particular clean. Ideally, you should spend most of the appointment out of the house or tucked away in your home office. In fact, many of our clients ask for the home office to be cleaned in its entirety before the rest of the home. This also allows all of your remote workers to have as little downtime and interruption as possible.

2. Get the home ready so the cleaning crew can make the most of their time

This advice may sound obvious, but you’d be surprised how many clients leave their cleaners to try to work around piles of clutter. The primary purpose of your outsourced crew is to clean, not to pick up your child’s toys or your dirty laundry. If you have a desk, stack up papers and files to one side. Try to spend at least 10-20 minutes tidying up before the cleaners arrive. That way the crew can spend their allotted time actually cleaning. In addition, make sure they know where garbage bags, paper towels, and clean bedding are, or leave them out as they do not rummage through pantries and cupboards. It really helps to leave the clean bedding on the bed so the crew doesn't have to spend time figuring out which sheets go on what bed.

3. Secure your pets

Even the most adorable pets can be distracting nuisances for cleaners. What’s more, members of your crew may be allergic or afraid of certain animals. As a matter of courtesy, try to secure your pets in a safe space before the cleaners arrive.

4. Communicate any special requests before the cleaners arrive

If you have any tough or unusual jobs for your cleaners to tackle, let them know well in advance of the appointment. Logging special requests will ensure your crew comes prepared. Occasionally you may also need to pay a little extra for additional cleaning time or special cleaning equipment. Some of our clients find it helpful to get a Deep Clean Service a couple of times a year.

5. Cancellations can cause disruption to the cleaning process in your home as there will be more to do the next time. If you do have to cancel, give as much notice as possible and try to reschedule for a day or time in the same week. Not only does this affect the consistency of your home's cleanliness it also has a negative effect on your cleaning company who are trying to provide the best service possible while supporting their employees and ultimately the community.
